Three murdered in violent incidents over the weekend

The police has reported three murders over the weekend.

The incidents were reported on in the weekend crime report by police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi.

It is alleged that at Grootfontein on Friday, a farm worker shot an unidentified man after he was found at the goat kraal allegedly attempting to steal.

According to Shikwambi, the farm manager found two men at the area of the goats’ kraal. They then ran into the nearby bushes.

“The manager informed two farm workers to pursue them. They followed the suspects, found one and one ran away. One of the farm workers who was armed with a shotgun fired in the direction of the suspect, bullets striking the suspect on his upper back shoulders and the neck as well as the head, and he died on the spot,” Shikwambi said.

She said the 33-year-old suspect was arrested, and the murder weapon has been recovered. Police investigations continue.

In a separate incident on Friday, at Ohaiyanda village in the Oshikoto region, a it is alleged that Nesto Jeremia (24) was declared dead upon arrival at Omuthiya State Hospital after he was stabbed with a knife in his left side shoulder.

According to the police, it is alleged that there was a wedding ceremony in the village. After the ceremony, the deceased was instructed to inform all the young people to leave the place and go to their houses since it was getting late.

“It is further alleged that the suspect refused to comply with the instructions whereby the deceased allegedly used his belt to beat him to force him to leave the house.

“The suspect drew out a knife, stabbed the deceased, and ran away in the darkness. The suspect is arrested. Next of kin were informed and police investigations continue,” Shikwambi said.

At Aussenkher, Machel Sililo (36) was declared dead after he was allegedly stabbed with a broken bottle on the left side of his chest on Sunday.

It is alleged that the deceased had a quarrel with the suspect in the bar where a fight broke out.

It is alleged that they fought again outside the bar where the deceased was stabbed.

A 23-year-old male was arrested, but the murder weapon has not been found. Next of kin were informed, and police investigations continue.
