More flights between Windhoek and Joburg coming soon

South African Airways (SAA) will increase its flight frequency between Windhoek and Johannesburg from 27 October

The airline is introducing a third daily flight that will depart Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport at 15h00 and arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport at 17h45.

The return flight will depart Windhoek at 08h30 and arrive at Johannesburg at 11h55.

Air Connect Namibia says the additional flight will give both business and leisure travellers more options.

“This increased frequency reflects the growing demand for connectivity between Johannesburg and Windhoek and will support tourism, business collaborations, and cultural exchange,” the statement, issued by the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) says.

NAC chief executive Bisey /Uirab says the new flights will offer consumers more flexibility.

“The service is a positive step forward for our destination as we continue to pursue increased international connectivity. It will provide much-needed capacity and offer consumers more choice and flexibility.”

He says the increased connectivity mutually benefits both countries and strengthens economic ties.

“With this new flight frequency we can expect to see an uptick in both inbound and outbound travel, which is essential for the development of our country’s aviation sector,” /Uirab says.

Air Connect Namibia was established in 2024 and involves various stakeholders, including the NAC, Gondwana Collection Namibia, the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, the Walvis Bay Corridor Group, the Namibia Tourism Board, and the City of Windhoek.
