Ondangwa man shoots manager after dismissal

A man (49) who allegedly shot and killed one of his managers and injured another at Henning Crusher at Ondangwa was scheduled to be dismissed from his job on Friday.

According to an incident report released by Oshana police spokesperson chief inspector Thomas Aiyambo, the man was employed as a cleaner at Henning Crusher.

“The suspect, who had been transferred to the Ondangwa plant from Tsumeb in 2020 due to alleged misconduct, was set to be dismissed on Friday. When summoned to the office to sign his termination letter, he refused and left the building,” Aiyambo says.

Minutes later, Aiyambo says, the suspect returned armed with a pistol and shot the production manager, also injuring the mechanical manager.

“The injured victim was immediately transported to a hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

“Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle belonging to the deceased. He eventually surrendered at the Ondangwa Police Station, where he was promptly arrested,” he says.
