Moyos win Mixed Pairs competition

Adda Moyo and Dignity Moyo won the third mixed pairs American scramble and betterball competition at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club over the weekend. 

The Moyo pair won the event with a total of 59 points, followed by Riehanre Haccou and Moritz von Prittwitz on 58, Tashia Kalondo and Claud Abrahams on 55, and Theresa Grobler and Johan Grobler on 42 points. 

The competition was sponsored by the Namibia Ladies Golf Union (Nalgu), which in collaboration with the R&A (Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews) is on a mission to get more women to take up golf as a sport. 

Golfers were encouraged to get non-golfing women players to join them on a fun-fulled day on the course. In addition, golfing mixed pairs were also encouraged to participate, while all golfers who could not find an opposite sex partner were accommodated in a separate division. A total of 24 pairs participated, consisting of four golfer/non-golfer mixed pairs, 10 golfing mixed pairs, nine men’s golfing and one men’s golfer/non-golfer pairs.

Liana du Plessis and Chris du Plessis won the golfer mixed pairs category with 47 points, after beating Justine Shikulo and Likius Nande on a count-out. Jolene van Schoor and Melt van Schoor came third on 44 points after beating Sesilia Nkosho and Peter Shikongo, and Lucy Mohale and Sponks Mohale on a count-out. 

Bertus Damon and Manfred Bledou won the golfer/golfer pairs category on 50 points after beating Aldo Beukes and Davin van Rooyen on a count-out, while Cor Beuke and Alandrin Beuke came third on 48 points.

Albert Lombard and Renier Lombard won the won the golfer/non-golfer pairs category on 84 points. 

Liana du Plessis and Evelyn Paulino won nearest-to-the-pin prizes for women sponsored by Nalgu, while Likius Nande, Wilfried Emvula, Moritz von Prittwitz and Danie van der Merwe won nearest-to-the-pin prizes for men sponsored by the Sages. 

The Windhoek Golf & Country Club will host the Liberty DISF competition this coming weekend.
