The Tukwatha Youth Organisation has raised over N$14 000 for displaced families after a recent fire at Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay.
The initiative is called ‘Hope After the Flames’.
The organisation’s founder, Hendrina Kudhingililwa, this week said: “Many families have lost everything, and the campaign is focused on meeting their most urgent needs: providing food, clothing, and toiletries to help them through this incredibly difficult time.”
The fire resulted in a man dying and about 200 structures being destroyed.
Kudhingililwa called on all Namibians to support the initiative.
“Every small gesture of kindness counts. For those who may not have the time to buy items themselves, you can contribute financially,
and we’ll make sure your donation goes directly to supporting those who need it most,” she said.
Among the donors are minister of finance and public enterprises Iipumbu Shiimi, minister of environment, forestry and tourism Pohamba Shifeta, and Hardap governor Salomon April, Kudhingililwa said.
