South Africa will clash with Zambia in Sunday’s final of the Boys competition and with Malawi in the Girls decider at the CAF African Schools Football Championship | Cosafa Qualifier in Walvis Bay, Namibia.

South Africa have won the Boys and Girls competitions in each of the two previous instalments of the zonal qualifiers and so will be going for a hat-trick this year, having each qualified for their respective deciders in Walvis Bay.

The Boys defeated Malawi 2-1 in a tough semifinal that was evenly contested, while Zambia edged Eswatini 1-0 in their last-4 clash.

The African champion South African Girls team will play Malawi in the final of their competition after a thumping 10-0 success over Lesotho in their semifinal.

The South Africans have now scored 34 goals in the competition without conceding a single one as they seek to retain the title they won last year, after which they went on to be crowned princesses of the continent in Zanzibar in May.

Malawi booked their final place after they came from behind to defeat Zimbabwe 2- 1 in their last-4 clash.

Earlier, Zambia finished top of Group A in the Boys competition despite having to forfeit their pool opener to Lesotho on Friday.

They followed that up with a 1-0 win over Namibia and then a crucial 3-2 success against top side Malawi to overhaul them on the head-to-head rule after both teams finished level on six points. Namibia were third in the pool ahead of Lesotho on head-to-head.

In Group B, South Africa made it a full haul of nine points when they defeated Eswatini 4-0, but the latter still finished second in the pool after Angola and Zimbabwe played to a 1-1 draw.

In the Girls competition, Malawi topped Group A without kicking a ball in the pool stages on Saturday as they were awarded a 3-0 walkover victory over absent Zambia. Lesotho took second place as they beat Namibia 1-0 in a crunch do-or-die fixture.

South Africa beat Eswatini 4-0 to take a full haul of nine points from the pool, while Zimbabwe earned a place in the semifinals in dramatic style as they beat Angola 8-0 to pip Eswatini on goals scored.
