A 19-year-old student was killed when he was stabbed while returning home from extra classes at Otjiwarongo on Monday night.
The student, identified as Brave Mbitjita Nangula, was allegedly stabbed after attempting to flee a mugging.
Nangula and three of his friends were walking home around 20h30, when they were allegedly stopped by four unidentified suspects who demanded cannabis from them, the police reported.
“The suspects forcibly searched the group, with one surrendering his cellphone to the muggers,” according to a police report on the incident.
The four friends fled in different directions, but the suspects pursued them. The attackers caught up with Nangula and stabbed him in the left side of the neck, the police reported.
Nangula died at the scene.
Community members took to the streets at Otjiwarongo to demand justice for the slain teenager on Friday.
The suspects remain unknown and police investigations are continuing.
The police are appealing to community members for any information regarding the suspects.
