A 33-year-old woman from Oshakati was arrested on Thursday after allegedly posting nude photos of a northern radio journalist on social media earlier this week.
The arrest was confirmed by Oshana Police commander, commissioner Naftal Sakaria on Thursday.
Sakaria said the suspect is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He did not specify the exact charges, but noted that the arrest was made for contravening the Communication Act No. 8 of 2009.
“Our Gender-Based Violence office has been in contact with the victim, a 31-year-old woman, and all efforts have been made to refer her to the relevant offices for assistance,” he said.
The victim’s name is known to The Namibian but cannot be disclosed due to the sensitivity of the case.
Sakaria cautioned social media users, particularly young people, to exercise caution, as they could face legal consequences if victims take the matter to court.
