Namibia Post Limited (NamPost) is considering installing ATMs at certain points for enhanced customer service.
NamPost chief executive Festus Hangula announced this during the company’s digital banking channels launch last week.
“We are currently looking at registered digital mail, ATMs, and a retail app to literally bring more services to our customers’ fingertips,” he said.
NamPost last week launched a banking app and internet banking platform.
This is part of the company’s Project Sky stategy, which forms part of it’s four strategic goals.
“Customers’ needs are constantly changing. Technology is changing. We must change the way we do business to keep up with these. That is exactly what we are doing,” Hangula said.
Moreover, the company’s assets have grown from N$69 million to N$8.1 billion in 32 years.
“A significant portion of those assets are the financial assets of the savings bank,” Hangula said.
NamPost board chairperson Simeon Amunkente said the company has spent a lot of time trying to determine what Namibians want from a savings bank.
“Our intention has always been to offer our clients affordable, accessible and simple transactional banking services,” he said.
Amunkente said NamPost has the lowest financial services fees on the market.
Speaking at the launch, minister of information and communication technology Emma Theofelus said the digital platform is in line with the country’s National Digital Strategy (NDS) for 2024 to 2028.
“The NDS charts the course for our nation’s digital transformation. NamPost has already demonstrated it’s readiness as a key stakeholder in this journey, positioning itself as a leader in our shared vision for a digitally inclusive Namibia,” she said.
Theofelus said other institutions should join the effort to achieve 100% digital literacy by 2030.
“The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has already rolled out a digital literacy programme nationwide, and I invite all stakeholders to partner with us in educating our citizens and empowering them for the future,” the minister said.
