University of Namibia vice chancellor Kenneth Matengu says the notion that universities create employment is false.
He says the universities are there to produce employable citizens of society.
He was speaking during the university’s state of address at Keetmanshoop on Tuesday.
“Employment creation is not a mandate for universities,” Matengu said.
According to him, it is the mandate of the government to create employment for university graduates.
