A security guard employed by My Loje Security was stabbed to death by an intruder in Rundu Galaxy Mall at 11h00 on Monday.
Kavango East regional crime investigations coordinator Bonifasius Kanyetu has confirmed the incident.
The 20-year-old suspect is known and has been arrested.
“The suspect stabbed the deceased (29) with a knife in the neck,” Kanyetu says.
A case of murder has been registered at Rundu Police Station.
“The suspect was found sitting near the complex toilet and was eating when confronted by the deceased to find a suitable place where he could eat. The suspect became angry and took an okapi knife and fatally stabbed the deceased with it in the neck and fled the scene,” Kanyetu says.
The deceased collapsed when he chased the suspect due to blood loss, says Kanyetu.
Kanyetu says the deceased was rushed to Rundu State Hospital for medical attention, but he died upon arrival.
The knife used has been seized.
The next of kin are yet to be informed, and police investigations continue.
