NWR readies for Khomas 100 race

Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) is preparing to host cyclists participating in the Khomas 100 gravel race.

The race is scheduled for 26 October.

“We are excited for the Khomas 100 because it aligns with our vision of establishing NWR as a wellness destination,” says NWR communications manager Nelson Ashipala.

“Hosting a cycling event of this scale strengthens our belief that we can achieve this goal,” Ashipala says.

The Khomas 100 race will begin in Windhoek and end at the Gross Barmen resort.

“Cyclists and their supporters can look forward to an incredible weekend at Gross Barmen Resort, where the NWR team is ready to provide top-tier service and hospitality,” a NWR press release on Wednesday reads.

All riders and up to three family members get complimentary access to a day pass for the resort.

The Khomas 100 offers three routes catering to cyclists of varying experience levels.

The shortest route stretches for a distance of 44 kilometres while the intermediate route runs for 84 kilometres.

The two shorter routes both start and end within the Gross Barmen resort.

The most challenging route has a length of 143 kilometres, running through challenging terrain and an elevation of 2 000 metres.

The first Namibian rider to finish the 143-kilometre track may claim the prestigious title of national champion.

The top Namibian winners (male and female) will secure a spot at the 2025 world championships in France.
