Safety and security minister Albert Kawana officially opened the Ncamagoro police station on Friday.
The station is a state-of-the-art facility constructed at a total cost of N$15 million.
Construction for the station began on 1 February 2023 and was completed on 26 June 2024.
The new facility includes a charge office, an administrative office block with three offices, and residential barracks with accommodation for police officers.
The barracks provide eight rooms for male officers and four rooms for female officers.
Additionally, two two-bedroom houses, a kitchen, a recreational area, and a septic tank are part of the facility’s infrastructure.
“The government of the Republic of Namibia will continue to guarantee that important projects such as this one are realised, despite limited resources. Hence, this facility will indeed contribute to the infrastructural map of the region. I, therefore, encourage members who will be stationed here to ensure that this police post is well taken care of and guarded against any form of vandalism,” Kawana said at the opening.
He said the rural economy’s prevalent crimes are stock theft.
“With the inauguration of Ncamagoro Police Post, victim cattle farmers will be in a position to report stock theft cases within a reasonable distance.”
” I call upon the community to cooperate with the police in reporting criminal cases. In the same vein, allow me to call upon the police officers to remain disciplined, loyal and patriotic and consider their profession, not just as a job opportunity but also as a calling,” he said.
