The Namibia Revenue Agency (Namra) has denied allegations that it delayed a businesswoman’s hair shipment.
This comes after an Instagram hair business, Belv Hair, owned by Belvana Edward, has blamed its failure to deliver wigs and hair extensions to over 190 customers on Namra.
Namra chief executive Sam Shivute, in a post on Facebook on Monday, labelled the allegations false.
“If there is any truth in this narrative, the businesswoman must bring the matter to the attention of the head of customs and excise before the end of business tomorrow,” he says.
Shivute further requested all related documents and evidence to be brought to Namra’s head of customs in Windhoek.
The case has sparked concerns over customer protection standards in Namibia.
Namibian Police sergeant Theoness Tauxab says Belv Hair’s 190 customers are yet to register complaints against Edward.
“The police don’t force people to open cases, we don’t force people to be refunded. Opening a police case will be treated as a criminal proceeding,” Tauxab told The Namibian on Monday.
