Mahindra once again entered the market with fanfare with their latest sports utility vehicle (SUV) with the cute, yet impressive SUV 3X0.
Prices start at a mere N$254 999 for the intro model to around N$415 000 for models from the top of the range. For this price, you can expect a premium car.
As their brochure states, the bold, athletic silhouettes command attention.
From the moment you enter the keyless driver’s door, the Mahindra’s narration is one of “I did not expect this” in such a car.
The soft leatherette seats are not the only welcoming host, as the vehicle’s adjustable, multifunctional steering wheel speaks volumes, along with the advanced sound system, the sky-roof TM and the 364L boot space.
The authentic ‘X’ was designed with you in mind. The distinctive grill gives the impression of an electric vehicle, but upon closer inspection, the piano black finish on the grille tells a different story with the LED fog lamps, daytime running lights and headlamps neatly embedded in the body.
The infinity light bar, connecting the left and right clusters, tells a story of attention to detail.
The 17 inch diamond cut alloy wheels on the luxury models complement the 3X0. The list of the 3X0’s specifications is almost endless.
The Harman Kardon premium audio experience, complete with dedicated subwoofers, six speakers and a nine-channel equaliser, is paramount to what any owner can expect from this ride.
The safety features, like the level-two advanced driver assistance system, makes the SUV 3X0 a solid bastion.
It also has a radar and a camera that detects obstacles to avoid collisions and assist the driver for a much safer journey. Apart from the six airbags, including two curtain airbags, the vehicle is fitted with standard three-point safety belts on all seats throughout the entire 3X0 range.
The vehicle is also the segment leader with an electronic stability programme.
The adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking (for pedestrians, vehicles and cyclists), forward collision warning and traffic sign recognition all add up to improved road safety.
The superior comfort includes a commanding seating position which enables the driver’s forward visibility to an estimated 1.4 metres above ground. This assists the driver in observing vehicles ahead of them.
The ruggedness is underscored by the bold wheel arches.
Dual climate control with rear air conditioning vents puts this car in a bracket one expects from premium brands with a much higher price tag.
What adds to the performances? The 1.2L turbo petrol engine with the 82kW power and 200Nm torque needs less than 5 seconds to clock 0 to 60km/h. The vehicle comes with a 6-speed third generation automatic gearbox.
All this contributes to the vehicle’s fuel efficiency, and according to the manufacturers, the average fuel consumption is between 18 and 19km/l.
The vehicle is available in single or dual tone colours. Other equipment to make heads turn include a chrome cladding set, chrome rain visors, rear bumper add on, seat cover – black with red inserts illuminated scuff plates – and even 3D floor mats.
In short, the Mahindra SUV 3X0 is more than an affordable luxury car; it will enhance your lifestyle in many ways.
