All outdoor enthusiasts and sport fanatics should mark their calendars, because it’s time for yet another exciting and adventure-filled trail run.
The much-anticipated Gondwana Moonraker Ridge Trail Run is set to take place on 9 November at Moonraker Outdoor Adventure Rest Camp.
Moonraker is located 20km east of Windhoek, between Hosea Kutako International Airport and the city centre and everyone is invited to sign up to experience the thrill of trail running through some of Namibia’s most rocky and striking landscapes.
Similar to the Gondwana Moonvalley Marathon and the Gondwana Spreetshoogte Challenge, hosted by Gondwana Collection Namibia earlier this year, the event promises a challenging and rewarding journey across raw terrain.
The run will offer three challenging distances – 5km, 10km and 21km – with the last offering at the challenging elevation of 800m, but equally rewarding, with a stunning crest over the Auas Mountains.
Starting at 07h00, participants are required to be there earlier for a runners’ briefing to familiarise themselves with the routes. Water points will be available every 5km.
And in true Gondwana style, a party will follow to celebrate all the runners. This family affair will include a cash bar, sizzling braai and live music from Undivided Band, to add to the fun of the day.
Online registration for the trail run has been open since 10 October, and closes on 7 November, or when the event reaches maximum capacity.
Prospective participants are urged to complete their entries early to secure a spot. Late entries will not be accepted, and entry fees are non-refundable, so prompt action is essential.
For a smooth registration process, all parts of the entry form on the Gondwana Collection Namibia website must be completed. Incomplete forms are subject to disqualification.
The trail run will have clearly marked routes, complete with directional signage, allowing runners to focus fully on the experience.
Prepare your gear and bring your adventurous spirit – this year’s run is set to be an unforgettable event for all trail runners. Remember, no matter what happens out there, don’t stop running!
