Chief of the Uukolonkadhi Traditional Authority Daniel Shooya has died at the age of 99. His death was confirmed by Uukolonkadhi Traditional Authority chairperson Andreas Amunyela on Friday.
Amunyela told The Namibian Shooya died at his home on Thursday afternoon. “He was hospitalised at Ongwediva and was discharged this past Sunday,” he said.
According to Amunyela, Shooya reigned for 44 years. Amunyela said Shooya taught him to serve and maintain peace within the community. Before independence,
Shooya served as a senior official responsible for home affairs in the Owambo administration. He is survived by his wife Selma, children and grandchildren.
