The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) says it is apolitical.
This comes after the company’s upstream executive, Victoria Sibeya, and green hydrogen commissioner James Mnyupe were criticised for promoting national projects at a Swapo rally in Windhoek over the weekend.
Sibeya referred to Swapo members as “comrades”.
Namcor, however, says this choice of words was purely “conversational”, and that the company is apolitical.
In a statement issued on Monday, Namcor said: “We wish to clarify that while such language may have been contextually conversational, it was not intended to indicate any political bias or alignment on the part of Namcor.”
