The two-day Swakopmund Rally is scheduled to take place at the coastal town on 15 and 16 November.
Despite a national championship consisting of six events, this year will only see five rallies after a change in the schedule.
The fourth event was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and the results for the remaining championships will be calculated accordingly to determine the outcome.
Some of the 21 preliminary entries include defending teams Loic Bathfield and Johan Steyn (Class CR2), Ekko Eisenberg and Rassie Rietz (Class CR-1), Zachary Martin and Anique Schoeman (Class S-2), and Pieter Greeff and JP Robinson (Class S-1).
The event will consist of 13 stages stretching over a distance of around 108km.
“Friday night, we will have three stages with the popular industrial night stage and on Saturday morning we will have 10 stages.” Wido Bartsch from the Walvis Bay Motor Club (WBMC) told Top Revs.
The service park will be set up at the M+Z showroom, where the rally will start and finish.
Unlike rallies hosted in other towns like Tsumeb, Gobabis or even Windhoek, the Swakopmund Rally takes place on the outskirts of the town. This stage offers wide tracks, making it easy for the teams and spectators to see the cars from afar.
Bartsch advises spectators to be aware of speeding vehicles at all times and not to stand to close to the stages as it could be dangerous.
He says if anyone needs more information about the times, stages and safety regulations, they can visit the WBMC Facebook page or collect the spectator’s guides at the M+Z showroom at Swakopmund.
The event is made possible by JP Hydraulics Racing, Seal Consulting Engineers, SkyWay, Safewear Namibia and M+Z Motors.
The event is co-hosted by the WBMC and the Namibia Motorsport Federation.
