Special voting runs smoothly in //Kharas

Special voting for Namibia’s presidential and National Assembly elections started off without a hitch in the //Kharas region on Wednesday.

Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) regional electoral officer Jejamaije Mujoro said polling stations in the region opened on time at 07h00, and the process is running smoothly.

“We are experiencing a major turnout, everything is moving well,” he said.

Mujoro said almost 200 voters cast their votes by 09h00 on Wednesday.

He, however, mentioned that Oranjemund experienced a network glitch, which has since been resolved.

“We expect smooth operations today,” he said.

The presiding officer at the Benguella polling station at Lüderitz, Naimi Kamulu, said voters were already waiting in line at 07h00.

She urged all special voters in the region to cast their voters.

Polling stations will close at 21h00.
