Namra refunds 50 000 taxpayers

The Namibia Revenue Agency (Namra) paid N$75.1 million in tax refunds to 50 804 taxpayers on 23 October and 1 November.

Namra spokesperson Tonateni Shidhudhu in a statement on Wednesday said refunds ranged between N$100 and N$3 000 across all tax types.

He said Namra is currently preparing to process a third batch of refunds, expected to be released later in November, covering tax credits from N$101 to N$100 000.

“The estimated tax refunds to be affected is more than N$200 million. This effort aligns with Section 94 of the Income Tax Act of 1981 and reflects Namra’s commitment to clearing the longstanding backlog, ensuring that taxpayers who meet their obligations are promptly refunded,” Shidhudhu said.

He said refunds of over N$60 911 304.61 for 31 162 taxpayers are currently on hold due to incomplete tax returns and banking details.

“We urge all taxpayers to update their tax records and banking information to avoid missing out on their entitled refunds,” he said.
