Renault Triber Express oozes style

The Renault Triber Express can be described as a stylish yet functional vehicle.

With some brands doing away with light delivery vans (LDVs) or bakkies, Renault saw the opportunity to fill the void in the market.

The Triber is available in two derivatives, namely the cargo version and the seven seater version. Both come with the same specifications, with the only exception being that they have two different roles in their respective segments.

The Triber Express is a real robust and flexible vehicle and with a loading bay of 1 500 litres and with a weight capacity of just over half a tonne. The 542kg payload makes it ideal for any express parcel delivery vehicle.

Fitted standard with a steel safety box that is accessible either from the rear door for bigger parcels, or from the two rear side doors for smaller parcels, makes it perfect for almost any courier or small business.

The rear windows are equipped with a one-way film that allows for outward visibility but obscures the interior of the vehicle.

The flat floor and folded seats at the landing bay make loading and unloading easier.

Renault Namibia sales executive Arthur Erlank told Top Revs the Triber can be seen as the replacement for smaller LDVs that have been discontinued in the smaller segment of the industry.

The Triber, with its combination of cargo capacity, fuel efficiency, Renault’s reliability, and M+Z Motors’ local and national support, is an ideal choice for courier companies.

With a ground clearance of just over 18cm, this vehicle is not only made for tarred surfaces.

The cabin is not only simple, neat and practical, but it meets all expectations of drivers and passengers with a radio, airconditioner, electric windows, and a LED cluster with all vital information displayed.

Erlank describes the Triber as an affordable, versatile vehicle with features that can accommodate anyone.

Though the vehicle was designed as a small workhorse, the dual tone interior speaks volumes about attention to detail.

The anti-lock braking system combined with an electronic brake distribution system works to ensure maximum effectiveness of the braking and stability control of the vehicle.

The vehicle comes standard with a driver’s and passenger’s airbag. To manoeuvre parking into tight spaces, the vehicle is fitted with a reverse camera.

The new energy 3-cylinder engine is more than capable of putting the vehicle in motion with loads as per the manufacturer’s specifications. The high tech 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine generates 52kW with 96 Nm torque, making it as fuel efficient as it is reliable – as is expected from the French motor industry.

The engine’s design had South African and Namibian driving conditions in mind, making the maintenance cost effective.

The five-speed manual gearbox is gentle on the driver and the smooth changing makes urban driving a joy.

All this contribute to the vehicles fuel efficiency and figures of up to 5.5l/100 kilometer (around 18km/l) was reported to the dealer. With a tank capacity of 40l, the Express Triber can theoretically do a roundtrip from Windhoek to Swakopmund on a single tank, providing perfect driving conditions.

The vehicle might be entry level one, but it does not lack, and for a price of around N$ 270 000, one can get a lot of car for value.

This reliable and robust business partner comes with a 5-year/150 000km warranty.
