Sam Nujoma Foundation slams social media propaganda

The Sam Nujoma Foundation has strongly condemned the spreading of false information on social media that exploits the image of the founding president for political propaganda and electioneering purposes.

This comes after a post titled, ‘Founding president Sam Nujoma condemns Swapo dirty campaign, endorses Itula for president’, was circulated.

In a media statement, the foundation urged the public to “remain vigilant and not to give in to such deceptive practices that seek to spread misinformation and potentially tarnish the reputation of the founding president”.

“The foundation distances itself and the founding president from any partisan agenda or misuse of his image,” notes the statement.

The foundation further says it is essential to acknowledge the significant contributions of Nujoma to Namibia, as well as accomplishments achieved through the bravery and determination of Swapo, which Nujoma led from its inception to the attainment of our nation’s independence.

“Nujoma continues to enjoy a well-deserved retirement, serving as a symbol of unity, sacrifice and progress.”

The foundation further appeals to all Namibians to engage in their political pursuits with dignity and to concentrate on addressing the genuine challenges confronting Namibians, particularly the youth, who represent the future of the nation.
