Langer Heinrich Uranium and Cricket Namibia yesterday officially launched their three-year partnership with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mondesa Cricket Hub at Hanganeni Primary School at Swakopmund.

The hub, worth N$700 000, is set for completion by February 2025.

It promises to be a state-of-the-art facility designed to nurture young talent in a safe environment.

It will include three cricket training nets with the possibility to expand.

The centre is part of Cricket Namibia’s vision of making cricket accessible to all Namibians under the tagline #Cricket4All.

“This partnership represents our shared commitment to positively impacting communities,” Johan Roux of Langer Heinrich Uranium said.

“We are proud to contribute to creating opportunities for the youth in Mondesa while building a platform that aligns with both our organisations’ core values.”

Jona Ambuga of Cricket Namibia (CN) said the organisation’s vision is to be globally competitive, inclusive, and value-driven.

“Today’s event marks a meaningful step in realising our #Cricket4All campaign, which is about more than infrastructure – it’s about creating opportunities, discovering talent, and bringing hope to the youth of Mondesa and beyond,” he said.

Ambuga highlighted the transformative power of cricket, emphasising its potential to uplift communities and change lives.

“We are humbled by this partnership,” he said.

“It reflects what can be achieved when stakeholders unite for a common purpose. Together, we are building brighter futures for the Namibian youth.”

Stakeholders agree that the hub will steer children away from the streets and into a positive, structured environment where they can thrive both on and off the field.
