Hardap polling officers deployed

Hardap regional electoral officer Willem Uirab says 170 polling locations have been set up throughout the region. Uirab said the deployment of teams to their various constituencies to set up polling venues and logistics began on Monday with the furthest towns, settlements and villages.

“We have seven constituencies. Across them we have 53 fixed polling stations and 117 are mobile teams. Our emphasis is to reach every eligible voter irrespective of distance or where they are located,” says Uirab.

The regional electoral officer noted that they faced a challenge with vehicle availability for the teams during last week, but that all required vehicles were sourced and the final teams are also ready to be deployed on Tuesday.

“The deployment of teams around the region is important for the smooth operation of the elections. All officials have been briefed and are ready for their roles in the election process,” he states.

He notes that the departure of the election teams is the final stage of preparations. “The measures taken by the regional electoral office aim to ensure a smooth voting experience for all eligible Namibians.”
