Hardap regional commander, commissioner Sydney Philander confirmed his team’s readiness to uphold peace before, during and after Wednesday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
Philander says 182 officers will be deployed to ensure safety and security during the elections. The deployment includes officers assigned to polling stations as well as others tasked with regular crime prevention duties across the region.
“I would like to remind the public that wearing political party attire on polling day is prohibited and that no political activities are allowed within 500 metres of polling stations. However, we will send out senior officers to visit all the polling stations in the region to ensure compliance from civilians, political parties and the Electoral Commission of Namibia,” says Philander.
Philander has praised the public for their tolerance and good conduct during the general voter registration, noting their optimism for the upcoming elections.
He encourages voters to maintain this positive energy on 27 November.
