Voters at the Groot Aub Primary School polling station have described the election process as smooth and orderly.
Local school teacher Lungameni Johannes on Wednesday said there were no challenges and the lines were moving quickly.
“I came here at around 07h00 and by 08h30 I was done voting. I urge all eligible Namibian citizens to cast their votes because your vote counts,” he said.
Senior citizen and community member Richard van Wyk compared this year’s elections to those in 1989, when Namibians went to the polls for the first time.
“This time around, it is a watershed election. We are hoping to see change, as the past 34 years have been a disappointment,” he said.
He highlighted that people are eager to make their votes count and “it reflects in the turnout of voters”.
