The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) has expressed its “deep” disappointment in the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) in light of ongoing challenges at polling stations on Wednesday.
SPYL secretary Ephraim Nekongo said there is a need for an extension of the voting period.
“The shortage of ballot papers has resulted in many voters waiting in long queues without sufficient communication or support from ECN officials,” the statement reads.
“We urge the ECN to publicly address these concerns and provide clear information to the Namibian nation moving forward.”
He said it is imperative that the ECN upholds the integrity of the electoral process and ensures transparency to restore public trust.
“Given the current situation with ballot shortages at numerous polling stations, we strongly call on the ECN to extend the voting period to accommodate all eligible voters to allow them to exercise their democratic right,” he said.
