Fix Our Soccer Stadiums Urgently

I’m writing to express my concerns about Namibia’s inadequate soccer stadiums.

This situation hampers the development of sport and limits the potential hosting of international tournaments, which could bring our nation pride and recognition.

Soccer is a global sport that unites people and fosters national identity.

However, our inability to provide stadiums that meet the national standards not only affects our teams’ chances to play home matches, but also discourages investment in our sport sector.

To address this pressing issue, it is essential for our government and private sponsors to step forward and contribute to building and upgrading those facilities.

Sponsorship plays a big role in sport development. Swapo-led has failed to build and maintain proper stadiums, but instead opted to building a multimillion-dollar headquarters.

This shows how it has failed us as the youth of this nation.

The government can collaborate with corporate sponsors to ease the financial burden of constructing world-class stadiums and maintaining them.

In return, those sponsors can benefit from brand exposure and community goodwill.

By creating a public-private partnership, we can ensure the sustainability of those projects while fostering a robust sport culture in the country.

I urge the government and sport authorities to engage potential sponsors and prioritse this issue.

Together we can help our Brave Warriors qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and showcase our nation on the global stage.
