Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa says Namibians must reject counter-revolutionary acts intended to destabilise the country and plunge it into an “unprecedented crisis”.
Shaningwa said this on social media a few hours after engaging in a heated argument with Independence Patriots for Change (IPC) spokesperson Imms Nashinge on Thursday.
The incident, involving an exchange of insults, took place during a meeting of political parties at the Electoral Commission of Namibia’s headquarters in Windhoek.
“Us, we only have one passport, and we only know one flag. Long Live the Republic of Namibia,” she tweeted.
Shaningwa emphasised that Namibia is a peaceful country.
“. . . and peace is a sacred virtue. Hence, we are the envy of [the] whole wide world. As our late president Hage Geingob said: ‘It is difficult to build, but very easy to destroy, especially what you did not build,’” she said.
