Executive director of education, arts and culture Sanet Steenkamp says the marking of national exams is going smoothly, with results likely to be released in the third week of January.
Steenkamp on Friday said 70% of all advanced subsidiary level subjects have been marked.
“The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture is delighted to announce that our administration of the national O-level exams, as well as the advanced subsidiary exams went smoothly. It was completed, and our marking started simultaneously with some of the completed subjects already.
“However, for ordinary level, we will still continue to mark until 12 December. This means thereafter we would still have to follow specific standardisation processes, or grading, in collaboration with our Cambridge colleagues,” she said.
This grading will be done by the senior management of the Directorate of National Examinations and Assessment, and consultants from Cambridge will be present for quality assurance.
“We are on schedule despite the one day that was a public holiday . . . With the more than 1 800 markers we had this year we can confidently say we envisage to release the results in the third week of January 2025,” she said.
