Swapo vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has taken over the Rehoboth East Urban and Rehoboth Rural constituencies in the presidential elections ballot.
Nandi-Ndaitwah won with 3 372 votes (46.14%) in Rehoboth East Urban and 1 741 (52.53%) in the Rehoboth Rural constituency.
She is followed by Landless People’s Movement leader Bernadus Swartbooi with 655 votes (19.76%) in the Rehoboth Rural while Independent Patriots for Change leader Panduleni Itula is second in Rehoboth East Urban with 1 532 (21.03%).
In the Rehoboth West constituency, Itula dominated the votes with 2 034 (35.50%), followed by Nandi-Ndaitwah with 1 600 (27.93%) of the votes counted.
This was announced by Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) chairperson Elsie Nghikembua during a media briefing on the outcome of the preliminary results elections on Monday.
“You remain focused on the work that needs to be done. Criticism will always be there. You take it as it comes, and you just proceed.
“There are, of course, some lessons that you can take from it, and that is just the way to do it,” she said.
The ECN revealed results from 21 constituencies for the presidential elections on Monday evening as the presidential election vote count continues.
The ECN will release more preliminary results today from the remaining constituencies.
