Nandi-Ndaitwah stands on promises made during campaign

President-elect and current vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said her Swapo-led government will stand on all the promises they made during their campaign season.

She was speaking at the Election Commission of Namibia’s result centre on Tuesday evening, after it was announced that she had won the 2024 presidential with 638 560 votes.

“Today I’m saying to the Namibian people, as we have been telling you throughout the campaign, for us in the Swapo party and the team I am going to lead, we have made commitments. We are going to do what we said we are going to do,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah became the first woman elected as president in the history of the country, and is set to succeed the incumbent Nangolo Mbumba.

“As I’m accepting this result, I would say on behalf of the Swapo party, the Namibian nation has voted for peace and stability,”

“I would like to thank the Namibian people for once again having shown their confidence and trust in the Swapo party to continue in providing guidance,” she
added.
