Police question Labour Minister in L’Oreal affair

PARIS – Financial police are questioning Labour Minister Eric Woerth as part of a probe into the financial affairs of the heiress to the L’Oreal cosmetics fortune that has reached the highest levels of President Nicolas Sarkozy’s government.

A source close to the investigation who declined to be named because he was not authorized to speak to media said the questioning was under way at the Labour Ministry. Woerth was expected to be questioned yesterday on numerous issues in the L’Oreal affair, including a possible role in alleged tax evasion, illegal campaign financing and conflict of interest. Woerth denies the claims. – Nampa-AP
