The police at Keetmanshoop are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a truck drove over a woman (20) at the town on Sunday.
Namibian Police crime investigations coordinator for the //Kharas region, deputy commissioner Nicodemus Mbango, told Nampa yesterday the incident occurred at around 23h00 on the B1 road.
The deceased has been identified as Anna Fredrika Josob.
“An eyewitness said he found Josop standing on the other side of the road, and when the truck was approaching, she threw herself onto the tarred road, resulting in the truck driving over her. The witness, after the incident, ran from the scene to inform the victim’s mother of the incident,” said Mbango.
The truck driver did not stop at the scene to check on the victim’s condition, he added.
“The truck was not traced, as it was not properly identified, apart from suspicions of it being a manganese truck,” he said.
The victim was taken to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital for treatment after sustaining multiple leg fractures but succumbed to her injuries on Monday.
Josob’s next of kin have been informed of her death.
Police investigations continue.
