The Namibian Police in the Oshana region arrested a man (36) for allegedly shooting and killing another man (29) at Mandume in the Ongwediva area on Tuesday.

Oshana Community Policing chief inspector Thomas Aiyambo says the incident occurred at around 23h30, after the deceased allegedly threatened the suspect with a knife.

The suspect in turn shot the deceased in the neck with a pistol, killing him instantly.
Aiyambo says it is still not clear what led to the altercation between the two men.

The murder weapon, a 9mm CZ pistol and a magazine containing six unlicensed rounds, was recovered, he adds.
The suspect has been detained at the Ongwediva police holding cells.
Police investigations into the matter continue.
