NamPost, Telecom to become independent government-owned companies by February

The dismantling of the Namibia Post and Telecom Holdings Limited (NPTH), has reached an advanced stage with some assets having been shared among the subsidiaries.

NPTH holds 100% ownership of Telecom and Namibia Post Limited (NamPost), as well as 60% of Mobile Telecommunications Limited.

The dismantling will see Telecom and NamPost operating independently as opposed to being government-owned through NPTH.

According to a statement issued by NPTH on Monday, the property transfer process is nearing an advanced stage, and “the complete transfer of all properties is scheduled to be finalised by January 2025”.

According to the statement, the transfer of NPTH’s shares to the government will be completed by 28 February.

Of the 23 employees at NPTH, 11 will be transferred to NamPost and Telecom as of 2 January.

“The NPTH dismantling process is endeavoring to secure placement for the remaining employees,” said the statement.
