Volleyball fans were treated to top class entertainment when the DTS Liqui Fruit International Beach Volleyball Tournament took place at the DTS Beach Volleyball Arena in Windhoek over the weekend.

The tournament showcased top-tier beach volleyball talent, drawing competitors from Germany, Botswana, Angola, South Africa and Namibia, while the event attracted 40 teams across four categories: 16 men’s teams, 11 women’s teams, seven u19 junior boys’ teams, and six u19 junior girls’ teams.

One of the highlights of the event was the participation of Germany’s top four junior national teams, accompanied by their two coaches. As part of an exchange program, these teams conducted coaching clinics and used the tournament to prepare for the European beach volleyball season. Their presence elevated the competition, demonstrating world-class beach volleyball skills and strategies.

The tournament featured fierce competition among international and local teams. Spectators were treated to thrilling matches, with players displaying exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Liqui Fruit, a total prize pool of N$15 000 was awarded to the top-performing teams across all categories.

The visiting German teams dominated the senior men’s category, with Tristan Froebe and Tamu Wuest beating compatriots Ole Sackermann and Julian Hikel in the final, while Eduardo Muondo and Carlos Afonso of Angola won the bronze medal.

Almut Hoffmann and Rosi Hennes of Namibia won the senior women’s gold medal after beating Kristin Gloeditzsch and Teja Lück in the final, while

Romy and Piroschka Lück won the bronze medal.

Tumeretino Leberek and Willem Shikongowon the gold medal in the Boys u19 category, with Juri and Mischa von Wentzel winning the silver medal, and Roman Dainat and Leo Kesselmann the bronze medal.

Isabel von Wietersheim and Nora Rogl won the gold medal in the girls u19 category, with Paula Ritzer and Clara van Heerden winning silver and Lilli Marschall and Stella Hamm bronze.

The DTS Liqui Fruit International Beach Volleyball Tournament was a resounding success, bringing together top beach volleyball talent from across Africa and Europe.
