ALLOW me a space in our newspaper, The Namibian, to pick pieces from an ambiguous letter from Swapo Youth League, Ondangwa, written by Fundula Nenghwanya published on August 27, 2004.
Is it not laughable that SPYL, Ondangwa, has started to wash its dirty laundry in public? The party (Swapo) that claims to regard the British, European or their descendants as imperialists or enemies, is linked to British e-mail, Fundula Nenghwanya @ yahoo.co.UK.What hypocrisy?Let me advise SPYL members to try and develop a culture of reading. This will develop vocabulary as well as knowledge.I also request you (SPYL) to re-read my letter for point of correction. This time I will only deal with the parts that comment on my letter. The questions that belong to Nored or NBC must be directed to them.My letter had nothing to do with me being a member of Swapo, as I don’t play “kickboxing” politics.I am a proud Namibian who is interested in how well-run my country is, by whoever is in power and how well our young people, leaders of tomorrow, are brought up.Whether the ‘rubbish’ claims are made by an SPYL’s Paulus Kapia or anyone else, elected, appointed, nominated or self-employed, deserves a serious condemnation from all peace-loving citizens, irrespective of their political affiliation. My letter was not reacting to the eavesdropped information from the SPYL closed door, nightly secret meetings, but to a published, public call for a socalled ‘apology’ from Nored for ‘sabotaging’ the President as claimed by Kapia. My relationship with Nored is that: It is my northern power supplier. This was not the first time there have been power failures in the north.Electricity does not discriminate. It is made to fail when it is likely to cause damage, harm or death.I used the term “our President” which means that of the republic of Namibia. That’s what an elected leader in Namibia deserves.I do not write letters at the mercy of the Swapo party constitution or your much-hated enemy, The Namibian Editor, Gwen Lister. This is my inalienable right guaranteed in the Namibian constitution which is the supreme law of Namibia: chapter 3, Article 21 (1) (a) which you in SPYL do not show any recognition or respect in this country. In the said chapter, article 8: respect for human dignity shall guard you from the promotion of insults in this country.SPYL (district) remember! This country is not run according to the Swapo constitution, but the Namibian constitution and everyone, including the President, must obey it.Kapia cannot do what he doesn’t know how to do which is why Namibia hires foreign experts to perform some work.To attack the electricians for their explanations is the type of his habitual attack by Kapia, like he attacks this country”s judges, while he has little or no knowledge of the laws, even the constitution of Namibia. When did your spokesperson (Kapia) studied electricity and the law? It is very good that SPYL has confirmed that ‘insults’ to the President are within Swapo. It is therefore becoming the Party’s tradition.I wonder why you, SPYL, avoid commenting on Ananias Nghifitikeko’s slanderous e-mails when he also vowed to defend President Nujoma of Swapo, and your writings have a resemblance in phrases used. Most African history is told and written by the powerful, and like Swapo today, SPYL can claim today that it is President Sam Nujoma who has suffered and sacrificed his youthful life to liberate this country.Alone? The coming generation will demand the real history of this country be told and written objectively. The writing is on the wall! SPYL should stop being a transmission belt of insults, lies and gossip and start taking young peoples’ issues seriously. That means to fight unemployment, poverty and demand a fruitful education system (from the ruling party) in Namibia, if the wing is to be serious. That is when the SPYL’s name will start appearing in the history books of our country. Now SPYL has war-talk of ‘being prepared to shed blood for defence of the current President’.Come clean! Worship to defend your bread is politics of the belly. The nonsensical talk of ‘paying with blood’ is a political ‘dirty trick’ to create fear among people and cling to power. It is an election ploy. Most of the dictators and terrorists in this world are failed politicians who turned to suppression and bloodshed when they cannot make it on democratic principles. It is a pity that those claiming to be youthful in SPYL esp. Fundula and Kapia are ‘older people’ with the ‘age-gap’ ideology. They might end up turning the League into ‘Efundula’ (wedding-dance).I want to know why SPYL, Ondangwa, is responding from a European-based e-mail? Fundula must play politics in our land of the brave to be able to find out that N Nakandunga is a living being and not a ‘ghost’ as you thought.Food for thought, as some of you would be leaders of tomorrow. There are two sayings: ‘Do as you want others to do to you’, and ‘don”t throw stones if you are living in a glasshouse’! Read between the lines! Some expressions, no matter how scary they are, are ‘signs of the time’ whether you are not delivering to your people or your time is up.Some citizens may speak out by criticising your leadership, demonstrating against you, or writing articles in print media with different ‘tones. You may call them insults, but it is called freedom of expression. In your letter you used all sorts of words and insults to silence me but this is not likely.Rather go and clean up your mess in your house.N.
