Accidental fire alarm caused evacuation at Wernhil Park shopping centre

An accidental fire alarm activation led to the evacuation of part of the Wernhil Park shopping centre in Windhoek on Wednesday.

Ohlthaver & List group spokesperson Victoria Möller has confirmed this.
“The activation of the fire alarm was purely accidental and not due to any fire or emergency.

All relevant authorities were promptly notified, and the situation was assessed and addressed by our dedicated team in collaboration with the local fire department,” Mõller said.

Shoppers and employees at Wernhil Park were evacuated without any explanation provided on Wednesday.
No fire marshal or safety officer was on site to explain the situation.
