The Athletic Club Football Academy (ACFA) will wind down its activities with one more tournament at the Pioneerspark Arena in Windhoek this weekend.
Sixteen clubs are expected to vie for honours, marking a significant moment in the academy’s history, as it joins the recently established Julinho Athletic Football Club (JAFC) alliance.
The ambitious project will see JAFC becoming Namibia’s largest and most comprehensive football portfolio, uniting the highest number of football players under one banner.
“This tournament serves as a celebration of the rich legacy and achievements of the academy, and a last run in the ACFA brand colours. Fans, families and supporters are invited to join in the festivities, honouring the journey of ACFA, while looking forward to a promising future as JAFC,” the club’s technical director, Ricky Averia, said in a statement on Thursday.
“This tournament is a celebration of our history and the community that has supported us throughout the years. We encourage all our supporters to come out and make this event unforgettable,” he said.
“Celebrating the legacy of ACFA, the weekend promises a line-up of thrilling matches, as various clubs vie for the tournament trophies in the different age categories. The tournament promises to be a memorable experience for players and fans alike,” Averia added.
