President Nangolo Mbumba has extended an invitation to all stakeholders to join Namibia and the rest of Africa as the country prepares to host the African Global Green Hydrogen Summit.
The summit will take place from 3 to 5 September this year.
The three-day summit will be held under the theme ‘From Ambition to Action: Fuelling Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution’.
The event is expected to convene heads of state, government agencies, industry and business leaders, project developers, and investors.
Mbumba issued the invite at the World Hydrogen 2024 Summit and Exhibition on Tuesday.
The summit is currently underway in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Namibia is hosting its inaugural exhibition at the World Hydrogen Summit to provide status updates of all Namibian green hydrogen projects and emerging infrastructure.
The president said the three-day African Global Green Hydrogen Summit will not only showcase what Namibia has delivered in terms of its green hydrogen eco-system, but also the efforts of peer nations on the continent.
“Furthermore, we shall zero in on key policy interventions needed to give birth to a burgeoning sector, and also showcase key financial models and tools needed to close the gap between the price of grey and green molecules,” he said.
Targeted tours to Namibia’s projects will be organised as part of the summit to showcase constructed infrastructure producing hydrogen, synthetic fuels, fertilisers and reduced iron to illustrate the practical applications of a hydrogen economy, Mbumba said.
