Alleged cocaine mules in court

Alleged cocaine mules in court

A WINDHOEK Police Station cell will remain home for at least the next month to four Angolan men who allegedly smuggled about N$1,2 million worth of cocaine into the country last week.

After spending the better part of last week under Police guard in hospital while 255 bullet-sized cocaine capsules were flushed from their systems, the four made their first court appearance in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
All four were denied bail, and are expected to return to court on May 14.
A fifth member of the group, initially believed to be the ringleader, was not charged as no traces of the drug were apparently found on him. The four men charged are Anacleto Mubine (41), Nelson Francisco Alexandré (25), Baberto Kunga (40) and Antonio Twema (age unknown).
They arrived at Hosea Kutako Airport from Johannesburg on Wednesday morning, having originally departed from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Their arrest came only one day after another man, Celestino Massibi (49) was arrested by the Namibian Police’s Drug Law Enforcement Unit on Tuesday.
He was allegedly caught with cocaine worth about N$675 000, and was denied bail on Thursday. He will return to court in July.
A further Police tip-off led to the arrest of another suspect, a yet-unidentified woman, at the international airport on Thursday.
