Amapiano Music Festival promises to light up Windhoek

KING OF AMAPIANO … South Africa’s Kabza De Small will headline the Amapiano Music Festival in Windhoek tomorrow.

If you love dancing, get ready for the Amapiano Music Festival at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek tomorrow.

The festival will celebrate the dynamic and energetic tradition of amapiano music, featuring live performances by prominent national and international artists.

South African deep house, jazz and kwaito combines to create the one of a kind sound of the amapiano genre, which has become a favourite on the city’s nightlife scene thanks to its distinctive rhythm and captivating sounds characterised by a piano-based beat, catchy lyrics and soulful voices.

Hillvil Investments is in charge of organising the event and festival organiser Desmond ‘Birdy’ Shapaka says it aims to unite young people in a celebration of music, the arts and culture.

“The theme is ‘All White’ and you can expect performances by various Namibian artists, as well as international acts,” says Birdy.

The Amapiano Music Festival will feature Kabelo Motha, also known as Kabza De Small, as the main act, adding to the excitement.

Known as the ‘King of Amapiano’, Kabza De Small is a South African DJ and record producer who combines elements of jazz, lounge and deep house with light synth pads, bright piano melodies and slow-tempo beats.

In addition, the festival will feature performances by other international acts like JazziQ, Titom and Yuppe, the hit producers of the song ‘Twalabam’.

Among the numerous local musicians performing are One Blood, DJ Kandy, XT Namibia, and many more.

“Expect also other genres of music, as well as cultures coming together to experience a lifetime festival,” says Birdy.

The event begins at 12h00 and runs till late.

Tickets range in price from N$60 to N$30 000.
