But multiple award-winning singer and songwriter Annastasia Linus, better known as Ann Singer, is happily taking this risk to share her passion with others. She recently ventured into the catering business and opened The Food Sack in Windhoek.Linus sells different types of healthy and tasty everyday meals such as the popular Vambo chicken with porridge, spinach and mopane worms. There is a different menu from Monday to Saturday.Linus says the main focus of the business is to provide a healthy convenience. “A lot of people are tired of having oily foods for lunch. We provide tasty, healthy food delivered on time every day. Those supporting me are not only buying food from me, but also supporting my dream of owning my own restaurant one day,” she says.According to Linus, she started the business because of her passion for food and because her music business has not been bringing in the financial support that she needs.“The music business has not been at its best since Covid-19 hit and my eight to five job was not really doing what it should in terms of paying the bills. So, one day I asked myself what can I do on the side that can help increase my finances. I told myself that it had to be something I love and food came to mind. I cook at most of our family functions, small parties and weddings,” she says.Linus has a clear focus of what she wants to achieve in her future. Apart from growing her music career, she also sees herself expanding the business, and recently partnered with The Business Lounge to provide food for clients on selected dates and will be having platters and combo specials there from time to time.Linus describes her newest venture as a new found child that she will have the pleasure of moulding, loving passionately and watching grow.“Through this venture I have grown. Besides that I now have more coins in my pocket, it has allowed me an opportunity to see that I can be anyone I want to be. It has shown me that I am a limitless being and that I don't have to box myself. I can be and do anything I set my mind to,” she says. She says she has not given up on music but is just taking a rather long break to work on herself and new music. The self-taught chef says despite the various challenges that come with working in the food industry, she remains positive and motivated and hopes to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs.
