National federations are encouraged to attend Saturday’s Athletes’ Representative Forum, which the Namibia Athletes’ Commission (NAC) will host in Windhoek.

The forum focuses on strengthening athlete advocacy and representation within sport governance as part of the commission, creating an inclusive and athlete-oriented sport environment in Namibia.

Olympian and NAC chair Maike Diekmann will moderate the event along with her deputy, Romio Goliath, an active wrestling athlete.

“Together, Diekmann and Goliath will guide discussions to ensure an impactful, athlete-centred day of learning, collaboration, and strategic planning,” the NAC says.

The forum will feature guest speakers Ndeulipula Hamutumwa, an author, corporate strategist, business leader, and passionate sport enthusiast, and Shoki Kandjimi, a public relations specialist, the NAC says.

“Both will offer valuable perspectives on effective representation, communication strategies, and leadership in sport,” the organisers say.

Notable agenda items include the process guiding the effective representation of athletes, the principles and importance of a fair and transparent election process, identifying common challenges within different sport codes, and developing a communication strategy for athlete representation.

The forum will also set goals and timelines for improving the communication processes, a structured approach to enhancing communication channels within National Federations, ensuring that athletes’ voices are consistently represented and acted on.
