The Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project, in collaboration with the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN), raised N$13 000 through a spinning and stepping event held at Grove Mall in Windhoek, the bank announced on Monday.
The bank’s marketing and corporate communication services team sold apples and juice at the event.
“Spinning is an excellent workout for improving cardiovascular health as it increases your heart rate and blood flow,” said Bank Windhoek’s manager of corporate social responsibility and sponsorships, Audrey Mostert.
The Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project has raised N$33,9 million for CAN since its first donation of N$250 000 in 2000, and has grown to a prominent initiative aimed at making a difference to cancer patients.
The project will donate all the funds raised to CAN in November to help it provide the public with free cancer screening.
