Similarly, 331 men were screened through the rapid prostate-specific antigen test programme, with nine cases receiving timely treatment,” she said.

CAN chief executive Rolf Hanen at the event said the donation will go towards helping 4 100 new cancer cases which are diagnosed in Namibia every year.

“The Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project remains the primary funding vehicle for the National Cancer Outreach Programme of CAN that screened 2 541 Namibians complimentary during 2024,” he said.

In 2024, CAN spent N$2 630 000 to help transport patients to Windhoek for treatment, and to buy financially vulnerable Namibians undergoing cancer treatment food parcels.

The association also supported 230 patients and companions over 1 785 bed nights during 2024 at House Acacia interim home.

“Over 718 Namibians walked through CAN’s doors during 2024, 372 of them Namibians with a recurrent diagnosis seeking not just financial assistance, but hope,” he said.
