Bank Windhoek held its annual Selekt Sales Awards ceremony last Thursday, 19 September, in Windhoek.
The awards recognised dealerships and sales people in the automotive industry for their commitment, loyalty and support to the bank and its customers during the previous financial year.
Redco Motors, through Gobabis Toyota, scooped the top award in the new vehicles franchise category, followed by Indongo Toyota and Pupkewitz Nissan. In the used vehicles dealership category, Zeda Car Rental Namibia received the top honour with Avis Car Sales, followed by Danlou Motors and Auto World Trade Centre.
Novel Motor Company won the used vehicles category. Pupkewitz Auto and Associated Motor Holdings walked away with the second and third spots.
Sidonio Alfaiate from Redco Motors was awarded the new vehicle salesperson of the year, with Jolize Barnard from Indongo Toyota coming second, while Shaun Saal from Pukewitz Nissan was third.
Kobus Prins from Avis Car Sales was the ultimate winner in the used vehicles salesperson of the year category with Novel Motor Company’s Elrick de Wee and Danlou Motor’s Willie Modler winning second and third prizes respectively.
“Bank Windhoek will remain committed to you in your endeavours to put Namibians into reliable, safe and the most modern vehicles out there. Having said this, I believe that there is always room for improvement. We have taken the initiative to develop and formalise a promotion that we will be sharing with you in the coming weeks. We are confident that this will entice an increase in sales and put Namibians in a position to upgrade to newer models of vehicles they currently own or switch to another brand completely, if they so wish,” said Bank Windhoek’s head of specialist finance, Saara Shivute.
“We are on the cusp of massive change in so many areas of life – we are becoming increasingly digitised, customers have more choice, they are becoming less brand loyal and their spending habits have power in the marketplace. And as you in the motoring industry know all too well – as features in modern vehicles become more sophisticated, from safety to those ‘wow’ additions – it all adds to making your industry increasingly competitive. We are experiencing the fourth Industrial Revolution and change is in the air. We need to embrace it, internalise it and move with it,” said Bank Windhoek’s executive for retail banking services, Chris Matthee.
“Change dictates that we move outside of our comfort zones, prioritise our clients, and keep them actively engaged with our brands, as opposed to the years gone by when they casually walked through your showroom doors and pointed to the vehicle they wanted and Bank Windhoek financed it. Change requires collaboration to ensure that we remain relevant in our markets and sensitive to customer needs. Now more than ever, relationships have become the currency of business and journeying together with them at every stage of their lives. It’s about knowing when your solutions are most relevant – that is when your brands add value and sales are most likely to happen.”
“At Bank Windhoek, we understand this and building relationships with our customers is key. We are committed to being a connector of positive change for you – our partners – and for our mutual customers who purchase from you,” Matthee said.
