Bank Windhoek lowers fees

BANK Windhoek this week announced a range of reduced fees effective from 1 July.

In a statement on Tuesday, the bank’s chief financial officer, James Chapman, said the reduction in fees are in response to the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the bank’s customers.

“Bank Windhoek offers a diverse range of banking services and products which are locally developed, including world-class digital banking channels. These services are offered through our national network of branches, agencies and ATMs,” he said.

Chapman said the monthly account management fees for transaction and current accounts have been reduced by 5%.

To encourage customers to utilise their debit cards for transactions, the bank has also reduced point-of-sale transaction fees.

The fee for sending money via EasyWallet has been reduced to N$10,95 per transaction, while the recipient’s first withdrawal for the day remains free of charge, he said.

“Inter-account transfer fees via iBank, mobile app and ATMs have been reduced to encourage the use of these convenient channels. Digital banking services remain free of charge, with no annual or monthly fees. These include internet banking, our mobile app, cellphone banking and EasyWallet. In addition, our AlertMe SMS notifications for debit and credit card transactions remain free,” Chapman said.

He said the pricing of value-added services such as GOtv, DStv and BoxOffice has remained unchanged.

“E-statements are free and customers are encouraged to register for it as the cost of printing and issuing monthly statements will increase from October 2020,” Chapman said.
